The Yamaha DGC1 Disklavier ENSPIRE ST is a 161 cm acoustic baby grand piano equipped with Yamaha’s advanced Disklavier ENSPIRE ST reproducing and recording system. It combines the acoustic performance of a Yamaha grand piano with sophisticated electronic technology that allows performances to be recorded, reproduced and controlled digitally.

The result is a versatile instrument that can function as a traditional acoustic grand piano, a high-precision performance recorder and a self-playing piano, while maintaining the appearance and character of a conventional Yamaha grand.

Acoustic Grand Piano

The DGC1 is first and foremost a genuine Yamaha acoustic grand piano. Its 88-key keyboard provides the natural touch, dynamic response and tonal characteristics associated with Yamaha grand pianos.

The acoustic mechanism allows the pianist to control musical expression directly through variations in key velocity, articulation and pedalling, providing the full range of expression expected from a professional-quality grand piano.

Disklavier ENSPIRE ST System

The Disklavier ENSPIRE ST system uses Yamaha's high-precision sensing and playback technology to record and reproduce piano performances.

The system monitors the movement of all 88 keys using a non-contact optical fibre sensing system. It measures key position, keystroke velocity and key-release velocity, while the pedal system also captures and reproduces pedal operation.

When a recorded performance is played back, the system controls the piano's keys and pedals with high precision, allowing the acoustic piano itself to reproduce the performance.

This makes the DGC1 particularly useful for:
